From Research to Revolution
CAREvolution grew through years of teaching, research, experimentation, community partnership, and the belief that education can—and must—be more caring.
THE FOUNDATIONS
Years of Learning What Education Could Be
Teaching, coaching, international experience, school leadership, and work with diverse learners raised a transformational question: What conditions allow every person to learn and thrive?
CARE emerged from direct experience with students, educators, families, and school systems—not from an abstract business concept. These experiences revealed that trust, meaningful challenge, relationships, ownership, and genuine care are not extras. They are conditions for learning.
Contribution to CARE: The earliest foundations of a learning framework grounded in curiosity, compassion, agency, relationships, and evidence.
2022–2023
A Large-Scale Field Study Begins
Approximately 1,000 participants contributed to research examining collaborative learning, rigorous learning, trust, motivation, and engagement.
The field study brought together the perspectives and experiences of students, educators, and other participants. The work explored what people need in order to collaborate, engage with meaningful challenges, and take ownership of learning.
Contribution to CARE: Development of the Key Concepts of Collaborative Learning and the Zone of Rigorous Learning.
2023
CARE Concepts Are Tested in Practice
Collaborative learning, advisory learning, instructional coaching, and student-support tools were piloted in an alternative school environment.
Students and educators tested approaches centered on attention, stress, achievable challenge, trusting relationships, goal setting, assessment, feedback, and collaborative culture.
Contribution to CARE: Evidence that culture, relationships, emotional safety, and meaningful challenge must be integrated with academic learning.
2025
From a Framework to an Educational Movement
CARE began expanding beyond a single school or pilot into a larger vision for learner freedom, educator development, and systemic change.
The work grew to include microschool partnerships, project-based learning, educator learning, family engagement, community programming, and new ways for learners to demonstrate that they are Life-Ready.
Contribution to CARE: A growing ecosystem in which learners, families, educators, programs, and community organizations could build something new together.
2025–2026
Partnerships Turn Vision into Practice
CARE-aligned educators, families, microschools, organizations, and technology partners began creating an interconnected learning ecosystem.
Partnerships with programs such as Root to Rise Microschool and the development of OurMicroSchool helped demonstrate how CARE could support real learners, organizations, and educational entrepreneurs.
Contribution to CARE: A practical network model based on shared learning, mutual support, innovation, accountability, and community partnership.
CAREvolution TODAY
Building an Ecosystem for Caring, Equitable Education
CAREvolution now connects student learning, educator development, research, accreditation, community partnership, advocacy, and innovation.
CAREvolution manages educational programs, learning frameworks, partnerships, professional learning, and network development. CAREducation Foundation expands access through scholarships, grants, charitable programming, research, and innovative program support.
What comes next: Growing a trustworthy, accountable network of people and organizations committed to helping learners and communities exercise freedom with care.

The CARE Society Global Membership Program
Accompanying our in-person microschools are our CARE Society Global Membership Program. In the CARE Society students, families, and educators can engage worldwide in hybrid project-based learning community. Students are empowered to design and implement their own projects and enjoy courses, workshops, club leadership, and more.
Whether it is through learning pods, project demos, or social events, our learners take real ownership of their learning!
